30 cars and 90 years and 24 Hours of Le Mans 6/30 : The Bentley Speed Six (1930)

On the 90th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2013, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest has selected thirty historic cars grouped into three per decade, all up for public vote by race fans. To participate, click HERE and choose one per decade. The vote is open until the 15th of January 2013. Each of the thirty cars will have a short introduction. Today it is the Bentley Speed Six that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1930.

Present the first ever 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1923, The following year Bentley became the first British maufacturer win to win in La Sarthe and went on to four consecutive wins from 1927. The Speed ​​Six won in 1929 and 1930, and started the long history that unites the United Kingdom with the 24 hours, paving the way for Jaguar and Aston Martin in the fifties. The Bentley Speed ​​Six thus entered into history as well as one of its British drivers:  Woolf Barnato who became the first three-time winner in the history of 24 hours, what is more, three consecutive wins (1928, 29 and 30).
