Initially scheduled for today at Spa-Francorchamps, the first public laps of the Toyota TS030 will be at Le Mans, at Test Day on the 3rd June. As to the first confrontation of the Japanese manufacturer competing with its German rival Audi, we will to wait for the most important car endurance race in the world: the Le Mans 24 Hours, on the 16th and 17th of June 2012.
Meanwhile, yesterday in Belgium, the two hybrid powered prototypes met for the first time. Between Cologne headquarters of Toyota's racing organization, and Magny-Cours, Japanese manufacturer's truck stopped at Spa-Francorchamps for a few shots ... The most assiduous photographers were not the professionals though, but rather technicians from both sides! Leena Gade well - known for being the first female engineer to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans - did not hesitate to pull out her cell phone to shoot some details of the Toyota.
Both cars were then separated: the Toyota lifted into its truck, headed for France and a test session, while the Audi remained in Belgium to compete in the 6 Hours of Spa, the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship. Four Audi R18, including two hybrids, will be on track this weekend in the Ardennes.
