Despite an aging Z11SN, Zytek Engineering won the LM P2 class at this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans thanks to the Jota Sport outfit. A few weeks ago, the British company, now Gibson Technology after Bill Gibson, radically overhauled the Z11SN for 2015, especially relative to aerodynamics.
This new version of the prototype, powered by Nissan, that the Greaves Motorsport outfit - whose participation at the 24 Hours ended in a retirement this year - will be entered in next year's ELMS and FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), a championship in which the British outfit will return if its application is approved.
Team Manager, Jacob Greaves: “Greaves Motorsport are delighted to be part of the new programme. The existing car was highly competitive during this season but the opposition are very strong and are constantly improving. Gibson Technology has a track record second to none with their prototype customer race cars and we are confident that this new development will put us back at the head of the pack."
The 2015 season, which will include Le Mans if the team competes in the FIA WEC, will be quite loaded for Greaves Motorsport, victorious in the LM P2 class in La Sarthe in 2011. The outfit usually trusts young drivers like Matt McMurry, who became the youngest driver at the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and finished the 82nd edition in June.
