Shortly after the clock struck 3am local time, the No. 66 JWM Motorsport Ferrari 458 Italia lit up the pit lane with a fuel fire. Driver Abdulaziz Turki Alfaisal escaped the car in time and the crew was able to extinguish the fire (sending a thick fog through the pit lane in the process). The No. 66 has since rejoined the LM GTE Am race and is now 10th in class.
Porsche and Audi continue to trade spots at the top of the LM P1 leaderboard with each pit stop. The No. 19 Porsche Team 919 Hybrid settles out to be the leader each time pit stops are complete. Le Mans rookie Earl Bamber is currently behind the wheel, being chases by the Audi R18 e-tron quattros of Benoît Tréluyer (No. 7) and Filipe Albuquerque (No. 9).
KCMG is still your LM P2 leader. Nicolas Lapierre is at the wheel of the No. 47 Oreca 05 - Nissan. The No. 46 Thiriet by TDS Racing Oreca 05 - Nissan and No. 26 G Drive Racing Ligier JS P2 - Nissan are still in the hunt, however.
LM GTE Pro continues to be a brilliant battle between the No. 99 Aston Martin Racing Vantage V8 of Richie Stanaway, the No. 64 Corvette Racing Corvette C7.R of Tommy Milner and the No. 51 AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia of Toni Vilander. The No. 91 Porsche Team Manthey Porsche 911 RSR driven by Jörg Bergmeister is waiting in the wings in fourth.
The No. 72 SMP Racing Ferrari 458 Italia driven by Victor Shaytar, the No. 98 Aston Martin Racing Vantage V8 in the hands of Mathias Lauda, the No. 62 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 Italia with Townsend Bell and the No. 77 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche 911 RSR piloted by Patrick Long are all fighting for LM GTE Am superiority.
