Strakka success

Since the start of Toyota's participation in the FIA World Endurance Championship at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it seemd difficult for private teams to reach the podium. Rebellion Racing who were fourth at Le Mans, Silverstone, and in São Paulo, seemed to be favourite, but it was ultimately Strakka who managed the feat in Bahrain.

Before shedding tears of joy in the desert, the Strakka team based in Silverstone had a nervous moment when, a little over an hour from the finish of the 6 Hours of Bahrain, the Honda then driven by Jonny Kane came into contact with the Toyota of Nicolas Lapierre. This caused a puncture to the left rear of the HPD, but it was the end of the race for Toyota, and Strakka climbed to third place.

This result revives the English team's position in the race against Rebellion Racing in the Private Team Trophy in LM P1. At the start of Asian tour that passes by Fuji in Japan and Shanghai, China, the two rivals are separated by only 37 points.

Danny Watts, driver of Strakka Racing Honda n°21: “It’s a fantastic achievement to finish third overall, but of course we weren’t really racing the works Audis and Toyota and we were very focused on trying to win the Privateers’ battle. We’re a small team, all the guys put in a huge amount of work to make sure the car is fast and reliable and the conditions this week have been extremely difficult, not just for the drivers, but also for all the team members working on the car. They deserve all the credit for this race result and it will give us the confidence to go to Japan knowing exactly what dedication and hard work can actually achieve.”
