WEC - Toyota Gazoo Racing signs Kamui Kobayashi

Toyota Gazoo Racing has found a successor to Alexander Wurz, who retired last season, in the shape of Kamui Kobayashi.

Kobayashi was already a Toyota reserve driver, so the recruitment is logical. He will be sharing a car with Stéphane Sarrazin and Mike Conway and part of the same team as Sébastien Buemi, Anthony Davidson and Kazuki Nakajima.

Toyota won the world title for constructors in 2014 but did not manage to chink the armour of either Porsche or Audi last season, either in the World Endurance Championship or at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This year, the Japanese marque is pinning its hopes on the new TS050 Hybrid to give it a competitive advantage and finally claim the ultimate prize: victory at Le Mans.

The TS050 Hybrid will be making its competition début on 17 April at the World Endurance Championship season opener, the 6 Hours of Silverstone.
