24 Hours of Le Mans — Hubauto Racing steps up to LMGTE Pro

Taiwanese team HubAuto Racing were originally listed in the LMGTE Am class at the 89th 24 Hours of Le Mans (21-22 August 2021), but will now field its Porsche 911 RSR-19 in LMGTE Pro.

The LMGTE Pro class will include an extra car at the next 24 Hours of Le Mans. With the addition of HubAuto Racing, there will be a total eight cars in the class. With four cars (compared to two each for Ferrari and Corvette Racing), Porsche thus has the edge in terms of numbers.
There are several reasons why we wanted to make this move. We have had several discussions with our key partners, so we will receive significant support and sponsorship for the transition to the LMGTE Pro category,” explains Morris Chen, the team’s owner and director.

The team will continue to race under #72, the number it used last year when it raced a Ferrari in LMGTE Am. “Last year, our sponsors saw our ability to be a leading team in our first outing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The move to LMGTE Pro is an important move for our team’s strategic direction and confirms that our sponsors have great faith in the future of the team. This is just the latest stage of growth for HubAuto Racing and we are grateful to the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) for making this change possible."

HubAuto Racing has not yet announced its driver line-up but Chen promises that it will be competitive. He adds: “We are thrilled to be able to compete against the best LMGTE Pro teams and riders from Europe and the US, most of whom are factory teams. We know we have a great challenge ahead of us but, as always, we can’t wait to face it.”
