Although the Signature Plus Lola Aston Martin #008 suffered a stop-and-go penalty for speeding in the pit lane, Vanina Ickx and her team mates Pierre Ragues and Franck Mailleux took the last podium spot of the Algarve 1000kms.

Vanina Ickx: “The Portimao circuit looks like motor racing, with ups and downs and blind corners. I like this kind of a roller-coaster circuit, it reminds me of the Nordschleife. We suffered electrical problems during Practice 1, so we could not drive as much as expected. But I eventually found the good pace in the warm-up session. It took a little longer than usual, but I was discovering the circuit. In race, I drove very carefully in the traffic. At the end of my stint, Philippe Sinault and Pierre Ragues were smiling. This podium finish was a real relief and well-deserved, and we even had the potential to take the runner-up spot. After Le Mans, the crew worked very hard to repair the car, and these efforts were rewarded by this podium finish.”
