For the forthcoming Asian Le Mans Series season that will begin on 24 November 2019 at the Shanghai International Circuit in China, Nielsen Racing has opted for a Norma M30, marking the French manufacturer’s introduction to the competition.
While just a single car has been confirmed for the time being, the UK-based outfit still hopes to run a second prototype. The team’s two entries finished third and fifth in the LMP3 standings and claimed three podium places during the 2018-19 season.
LMP3 is of course the entry level of the endurance pyramid designed by the ACO as a platform for novice teams and drivers to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The class is set to evolve in 2020 after five years of existence. The 2020-24 era will see the second generation of LMP3 chassis enter the fray.
