Intercontinental Le Mans Cup - Autosport 1000Km of Silverstone

On the occasion of this inaugural round of the Intercontinental Cup in Le Mans, the prototypes which carry the legendary British Gulf colors will again compete with the Audi R15 and Peugeot 908 HDi FAP. But for Aston Martin, 2010 marks the beginning of a new story with the entry of the V8 Vantage, entrusted to JMW Motorsports. Aston Driver Darren Turner gave an update on his new objective: to challenge the supremacy of Porsche and Ferrari in LM GT2.

Darren Turner: "As an official Aston Martin driver, I drive prototypes as well as GT1, GT2 and even the GT3, which is about twenty races a year. The Aston Martin that I have driven more in most is the DBR9 in LM GT1 (including two consecutive wins in this category at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2007 and 2008). Today we are making good progress with V8 Vantage. We certainly had some reliability problems in the early rounds Le Mans Series, but we were competitive at 1000Km of Algarve. We climbed back up to second place, but have had some problems during pit stops. Otherwise, we could have given the car on its first podium. But our fourth place finish in Portimao in LM GT2 is the first significant result of the V8 Vantage programme. I also think that this category needs a different manufacturer that can join in the fray of Porsche and Ferrari. So we will continue working to be in front for good!
