Nighttime win for G-Drive Racing at the 4 Hours of Barcelona

The top step on the podium at the third round of the European Le Mans Series was claimed by G-Drive Racing's trio Rusinov-Vergne-van Uitert.

On Saturday, the third round of the European Le Mans Series, the 4 Hours of Barcelona, marked the "return" of endurance racing, a little more than a month after the 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was a day-to-night race with the start given at 18:30 and the finish at 22:30 local time, a new format for the championship. The win was clinched by G-Drive Racing's Aurus 01-Gibson driven by Rusinov-Vergne-van Uitert. The team is in first place in the championship, increasing its lead with this second victory. Inter Europol Competition's #13 Ligier JS P3-Nissan shared by Hippe-Moore won the LMP3 class, and Luzich Racing's Ferrari 488 GTE EVO driven by Lavergne-Pier Guidi-Nielsen took the LMGTE win and the lead in its class.

The next round of the ELMS championship, the 4 Hours of Silverstone, is set for 30-31 August the same weekend as the kickoff of the 2019-2020 FIA WEC season with its own four-hour race on 1 September.

The FIA WEC Prologue, the first official testing sessions of the 2019-2020 season, will take place on 23-24 July in Barcelona as well.
