The FIA World Endurance Championship resumed this weekend in Belgium after a six-month health crisis hiatus. The fifth round of the season won by Rebellion Racing dates back to the end of February at Circuit Of The Americas in Austin, Texas.

Today, the TOTAL 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps kicked off a return to international competition for the FIA WEC. Though the action on the track was spectacular as always, the race did take place behind closed doors and the paddock respected all necessary health restrictions.

The 29-car grid battled unpredictable weather conditions, with several particularly strong downpours in the mix. The safety car was deployed four times, including during the start at 13:30 local time. 

The #1 Rebellion pole-sitter failed to retain its edge against the Toyota TS050-Hybrids and their four-wheel drive advantage in the rain. The Japanese team pulled off a one-two at the Spa season return thanks to the #7 and #8, respectively. The #7 of trio Conway-Kobayashi-López is currentyl in the top spot in the championship. 

The United Autsports team won the LMP2 class after Hanson-Albuquerque-di Resta clinched the pole yesterday. 

Victory in LMGTE Pro went to the #92 Porsche of Estre-Christensen and in LMGTE Am to AF Corse's Ferrari driven by Perrodo-Collard-Nielsen.

The next round is the 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans on 19-20 September behind closed doors.
