An "Art Car" on the grid for 2013 Le Mans ?

The magic of the 24 Hours of Le Mans has long been the inspiration for artists. In 2013, a new work could be a significant addition the list of "Art Cars" *.

What do Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Jeff Koons have in common? These renowned artists have all created designs to decorate cars for 24 hours of Le Mans. The story began in 1975 when Hervé Poulain, an auctioneer and driver in his spare time, had the bright idea of entrusting the decoration of his BMW CSL to his American friend Alexander Calder ... The concept of the "Art Car" was born .

any others have followed: McLaren F1, Venturi 500 LM, Kremer Porsche K8 ... entrusted to the inspiration of artists both famous and lesser known. The latest design for a Ferrari 458 Italia, was proposed by a young Lithuanian in a competition held in conjunction with the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

In June, Gulf Racing Middle East will continue the tradition*, by entrusting the decoration of a Lola-Nissan to an artist whose name is still unknown. The project will be conducted in collaboration with Opera Gallery, who have an extensive network including Paris, New York, London, Monaco, Geneva and Hong Kong.
