Anthony Davidson at the wheel of the Oreca LMP2 for DragonSpeed in FIA WEC after Le Mans

Anthony Davidson, currently in a test and reserve role with Toyota Gazoo Racing, will compete in the 2018-19 Super Season for DragonSpeed as from the 6 Hours of Silverstone (GB) in August. He will drive the American squad’s #31 Oreca 07, joining Roberto González and former F1 driver, Pastor Maldonado.

Anthony Davidson will join the ranks of DragonSpeed for the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) after the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans and is therefore likely to line up at Le Mans in 2019 because the French endurance marathon features twice on the 2018-19 Super Season calendar. Currently under contract as a development driver with Toyota, he will share the wheel with Roberto Gonzalez and Pastor Maldonado in the #31 Oreca 07 - Gibson entered in the LMP2 class.

The British driver has plenty of racing experience, including 24 F1 starts with teams such as Super Aguri F1. He also took the FIA WEC crown in 2014 with Toyota in a TS040 Hybrid shared with Sébastien Buemi (four wins). He has raced the 24 Hours of Le Mans ten times, with Peugeot and Toyota. His best result was the runner-up spot in 2013 with Buemi and Stéphane Sarrazin for Toyota. After the 2018 Le Mans 24 Hours, he will discover the LMP2 class, replacing Nathanaël Berthon, the driver assigned to the #31 car for the first two rounds of the season at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) on 5 May, and at Le Mans on 16-17 June.

This year, Elton Julian’s DragonSpeed is fielding two cars in the FIA WEC: a Gibson-powered Dallara BR1 with Ben Hanley, Henrik Hedman and Renger van der Zande in LMP1, and the Oreca 07 - Gibson in LMP2. The American outfit is also competing in the European Le Mans Series with an Oreca 07 - Gibson steered by Henrik Hedman, Ben Hanley and the winner of the last 12 Hours of Sebring, Nicolas Lapierre.
