Asian Le Mans Series – Thunderhead Carlin Racing wins the 4 Hours of Sepang

The top step on the podium at the first night race of this Asian Le Mans Series season was claimed by Thunderhead Carling Racing on Saturday 15 February in Malaysia. The first three Asian Le Mans Series rounds on the calendar have been won by three different teams with the final race of the 2019-2020 season set for Buriram on the 23rd of this month.

The start at the 4 Hours of Sepang was delayed by an hour as a storm hit the track shortly before the competitors were to form the starting grid. The race still took place at night as announced, with the checkered flag waved at 22:45 local time. Though Eurasia Motorsport's #36 Ligier JS P217 triumphed at the finish line, the car was relegated to second place for the third round of the 2019-202 Asian Le Mans Series season after incurring a 30-second penalty. The top step on the overall podium at the 4 Hours of Sepang therefore went to Thunderhead Carlin Racing's #45 Dallara P217 *.

The winner in GT was decided in the final minutes of the race after a 60-second penalty for excessive speed under a neutralisation pushed HubAuto Corsa's #27 Ferrari 488GT3 from first to second position. In the end, the JLOC team's #88 Lamborghini Huracan claimed the top step on the GT podium.

The Graff team's #9 Norma M30 won the LMP3 class.

Rick Ware Racing's #52 won the LMP2 Am class.

The next and last round of the 2019-2020 season is scheduled in one week on 23 February.
