Asian LMS - A one-two for the Jackie Chan DC Racing x Jota Sport team at Sepang

The two neutralization periods at the 4 Hours of Sepang - final round of the 2017/2018 season of the Asian Le Mans Series - did nothing to impede the progress of Jackie Chan DC Racing x Jota Sport. Not only did the team pull off a one-two in LMP2/LMP3, but it won the titles in both classes.

The Jackie Chan DC Racing x Jota Sport team, who won the LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2017, left no hope to its rivals with a fourth win in four races. Thomas Laurent (who claimed the top step on the LMP2 podium at the 24 Hours this year), Stéphane Richelmi (who did the same in 2016 with Signatech Alpine) and Harrison Newey (the son of F1 Red Bull designer Adrian Newey) managed a hat trick unchallenged at the wheel of the #8 ORECA 05 called the Super8, whereas its #7 sister car, the Magnificent7 (a nod to the film), experienced problems during the last pit stop.

That misfortune allowed the BBT team's Ligier JS P2 (the LMP2 prototypes in the Asian championship are still subject to the previous technical regulations for the class) to reach the second step on the podium and clinch the honorary title of runner-up, ahead of Eurasia Motorsport's Ligier JS P2 that started from pole position.

Jackie Chan DC Racing x Jota Sport achieved a one-two with the victory and title in the LMP3 class. Guy Cosmo and Patrick Byrne, supported by Gabriel Aubry in Malaysia, were crowned the champions, helped in no small part by the penalty incurred by KCMG, the first Chinese team to win a class victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in 2015, for failing to respect the length of a pit stop.

Like Jackie Chan DC Racing x Jota Sport in the LMP2 and LMP3 classes, FIST Team AAI dominated the season in GT with the three wins in four rounds for the BMW M6 GT3, thereby winning the championship crown in the class.

After the round at Sepang, four invitations to the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans will be granted.
