Early retirement for Jaguar

The only JaguarRSR XKR GT2 in the 1000 km of Zhuhai retired from the race after only ten laps due to a mechanical failure whose cause was not disclosed by the team. It is a big disappointment for the JaguarRSR team, whose drivers enjoyed the handling of the car.

Paul Gentilozzi (team boss and driver): "This retirement is particularly disappointing because our Jaguar XK RSR GT2 entered in Zhuhai 1000k has never been so quick this season. After the start, we were fourth in category, following the Porsche that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year (#77 of Lieb and Lietz) while managing to keep pace with the leaders. Worried about the endurance of some parts, we have paid attention of mileage in testing but it seems that some have too short a life for the needs of endurance. We met with officials of the ACO and we were allowed to change some components, which should enable us to ensure complete reliability in the future."

Marc Goossens (driver): "The Jaguar XKR RSR GT2 was good. The best of the season definitely. Early in the race, I was able not only to follow the other cars and dice with them. I even think I was a little faster than the Porsche that rolled in front of me. However I did not rush this six-hour race in trying to overtake recklessly. So, I placed myself in their wake to have a patient race. Until the retirement, everything went perfectly. We could have had a solid result. "
