ELMS – RLR MSport takes on Arjun Maini

Indian driver Arjun Maini has joined the ranks of RLR MSport. In 2019, the British outfit will take part in the European Le Mans Series with an Oreca 07 LMP2 and hopes to be invited to the 87th 24 Hours of Le Mans (15-16 June 2019).

Arjun Maini was born in Bangalore 21 years ago. His career began in karting in 2007 before switching to formula racing. In 2014, he finished second in the British Formula 4 Championship behind George Russell, who will be driving for Williams in F1 this season. Named a Rising Star of motorsport by the British Racing Drivers Club, Maini then moved up to the GP3 championship in 2016 where he became the first Indian driver to win a race.

At the dawn of a new season, the Haas F1 development driver is about to broaden his horizons by joining RLR MSport. The British outfit will race in the LMP2 class of the European Le Mans Series with an Oreca 07. Maini will share the wheel of the prototype with Brazilian Bruno Senna (six 24 Hours of Le Mans appearances) and Canadian John Farano. RLR MSport also has high hopes of competing in the 87th 24 Hours of Le Mans this June. If the team is invited, however, it will line up without Senna as he has a seat in the #1 Rebellion R13-Gibson fielded by Rebellion Racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The list of competitors for the forthcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans will be revealed in two stages this year. An initial list of 50 names will be published on 11 February. A second list comprising the final ten teams invited to enter, plus the ten on the reserve list will then be announced on 1 March. The full line-up for the 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans will then be known, barring any withdrawals.
