The 8 Hours of Bahrain, final round of Season 8 of the FIA WEC, promises not to disappoint this coming weekend. Here is everything you need to know, including the programme and broadcast schedule.
The 8 Hours of Bahrain on Saturday 14 November will close out the 2019-2020 FIA World Endurance Championship season. Several titles are to be awarded at the Bahrain International Circuit, including the FIA World Endurance Championship trophies for LMP, for GT Drivers and for GTE Am Drivers and Teams. Bahrain will also serve as the final race of the LMP1 class ahead of the highy anticipated introduction of Hypercars in 2021.
Some noteworthy changes for this race: Daniel Serra will replace Alessandro Pier Guidi at the wheel of AF Corse's #51 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo. The Brazilian driver will join James Calado currenty in a three-way battle with the #95 and #97 Aston Martin Vantage AMRs for the FIA World Endurancce LMGTE Drivers title. Calado is in third place with 131 points, 11 points behind Alex Lynn and Maxime Martin in second place. Marco Sørensen and Nicki Thiim lead the classification with 157 points, 26 more than Calado. A total of 39 points are up for grabs at the Bahrain round (including one bonus point for pole position).
The first free practice session will be held on Thursday, and the other two as well as qualifying will take place on Friday. The start of the race will be given on Saturday at 14:00 local time. As always, you can follow all of the action on the official FIA WEC app.
In France, fans can watch the first two hours and the last hour live on the L’Equipe channel. Eurosport will broadcast the first two and a half hours and last two hours of the race across Europe and Motorsport.tv will show the round live in its entirety on the European continent.
