After taking the full podium of the GT1 category at the Spa 1000kms, the Ford GTs raised a great interest at Le Mans, notably because they revived the memory of the legendary GT40.

The Marc VDS car immediately proved brilliant, setting the second qualifying time behind the Young Driver Aston Martin, but a big crash ruined its chances in the early hours of racing. None of the two Matech Competition cars finished the 24 Hours, but they also showed a great potential. The 60 immediately joined the GT1 leading group before being stopped by an engine failure at night. Natacha Gachnang recovered well from her accident at Abu Dhabi, but once again was unlucky when the 61 was destroyed by fire in the end of the afternoon.

We’re not sure to see the Ford GTs again at Le Mans because of the disappearance of the GT1 category, but the car showed great promises and would deserve a long-term programme for the 24 Hours.
