Ladies of the 24 Hours 2011 (2) : Vanina Ickx

Galleries of female portraits attached to stories about Endurance racing in general and Le Mans in particular appear throughout this week of Le Mans.

This 2011 24 Hours, at the wheel of the #22 Kronos Racing Lola-Aston Martin, Vanina Ickx evokes the evolution of the atmosphere of Endurance racing, she has known since her youth with her famous father Jacky.

Vanina Ickx: "One day I came across a documentary on the career of my father and I saw myself at Spa, in the 80's, leaning on his Porsche 956, minutes before the start of the race. He was pretty relaxed, very open, while there was a huge crowd in pre-grid. We can not imagine at all that kind of thing today."
