Portrait of an icon: the Porsche 935 driven by Paul Newman at the 1979 24 Hours of Le Mans

Last weekend, the Porsche 935 with which actor Paul Newman, along with Dick Barbour and Rolf Stommelen, claimed the second step on the overall podium at the 1979 24 Hours of Le Mans was sold at auction for $4,840,000 at historic Monterey week in California.

For the occasion, the Gooding company in charge of the sale showed a video in which Dick Barbour, driver and owner, describes the 47th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, including its accompanying rain and fog. Portrait of an icon (read article) and a long, nine-year career!
