Clearwater Racing, known as Team Porsche Club Singapore Racing when it was set up in 2007, is owned by designated driver Mok Weng Sun and managed by Arj Kulasegaram. It is one of the most successful GT Asia Series outfits with no fewer than three Driver and Team titles in the last five years, all won with a Ferrari 458 Italia GT3. The Singapore-based team also boasts three outright wins in the prestigious 12 Hours of Sepang in Malaysia, two Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (Class B) titles and three Malaysia Super Series crowns.

With a track record that speaks for itself, Clearwater Racing enrolled for the 2015-16 Asian Le Mans Series in the GT class. This time, the team fielded a McLaren 650S GT3 in its quest of the title and, with two wins and three pole positions in four races, it duly achieved its aim. Owner-driver Mok Weng Sun and Keita Sawa, a graduate of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, were supported by none other than Rob Bell, two-time Le Mans Series GT champion in 2007 and 2008.

As a reward for its GT title, Clearwater Racing has been invited to take part in the 84th running of the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans. The line-up that triumphed in the Asian Le Mans Series will therefore be competing in LM GTE Am but, as there is no GTE version of the McLaren 650S, a different car is required. Mok Weng Sun and his teammates will therefore be sharing a rather special Ferrari 458 Italia. AF Corse, who will be providing technical and logistical support at Le Mans, has entrusted them with the actual chassis with which Bruni, Vilander and Fisichella took the LM GTE Pro crown at the 24 Hours in 2014. Although the Asian team is making its Le Mans début, driver Bell has already appeared in the race seven times. With this vital experience and Clearwater Racing’s GT and endurance pedigree, the #61 Ferrari sporting a red dragon alongside the prancing horse will surely be a force to be reckoned with.
