Today's Photo Story - Hurley Haywood wins the 1977 24 Hours of Le Mans

On December 27, 2002, the famous musical comedy "Chicago" starring Richard Gere and Catherine Zeta-Jones was released in the U.S. On June 12, 1977, Chicago native Hurley Haywood clinched the first of his three wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a Porsche 936 with Jürgen Barth and Jacky Ickx.

Porsche entered two 936s for duos Jacky Ickx-Henri Pescarolo and Hurley Haywood-Jürgen Barth, but the first was quickly forced to retire and the future six-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner became the third driver of the #4 Porsche 936. A stunning rise to the occasion and its opponents' mechanical setbacks allowed Porsche to win for the fourth time at Le Mans against Renault and its Alpines.
