It was last December that Fernando Alonso carefully observed the Audi R18 e-tron quattro exhibited during the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) awards ceremony, even taking a photo of it with his mobile phone. While the Spaniard will compete in Canada this weekend in his 223rd Grand Prix, Mark Webber - who chose to move from Formula 1 to endurance (at Le Mans, he will drive the No. 20 Porsche 919 Hybrid) - explains his great friend's interest in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Mark Webber : "I was sitting next to Fernando the entire FIA awards ceremony and we talked about the Audi R18 e-tron quattro. He loves that car, he found it aesthetically very beautiful. Generally he really likes the shape and body of sports prototypes. In a week, he will give the start of the 24 Hours and is very much looking forward to being there for that big moment. The 24 Hours of Le Mans is one of the greatest races in the world and it's fantastic to see Fernando here. Now, who knows what Ferrari will decide to do in the future?"
