24 Hours of Le Mans - Michel Maisonneuve (1955-2014)

Michel Maisonneuve, who participated six times at the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 1990 and 1999, passed away on Sunday at the Parisian hospital of the Piti

Though he may not have particuarly shined in La Sarthe, Michel Maisonneuve clinched the Porsche Carrera Cup France title twice, in 1989 and 1990, and impressed in single-seaters and the Trophée Andros.

In 1993, he shared the wheel of a Venturi with Jacques Laffite and Christophe Dechavanne, but was forced to retire not far from the finish. At his last participation at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the accident between the Porsche that he was driving and the Toyota GT1 of Thierry Boutsen put an end to the hope of victory overall for the Japanese manufacturer.

The Automobile Club de l'Ouest offers its sincere condolences to his friends and family.
