24 Hours of Le Mans: Porsche scoop LMGTE Pro win

The LMGTE Pro win is Porsche’s first podium since 2018. Here’s what the winners had to say.

Frédéric Makowiecki

“It’s a great achievement. I’m proud of the team, everybody has worked so hard for this win. The beginning of the race was hard, but we came back and we were there at the right time. Ferrari was strong, stronger than we expected at the end of the race, but we stepped up. This win is very emotional; I first came here in 1993 and that’s what got me into endurance. Winning Le Mans was my dream. Some may say it’s only a class win, but it has just as much merit as an overall win. There are always incredible battles and factory entries. The Porsche 911 RSR has a long history at Le Mans, and now we’re part of it.”

Gianmaria Bruni

"“Firstly, I’m really happy because we deserved this win. We came close twice in 2018 and 2019. The best way to finish the LMGTE Pro era was for us to us to bring the trophy home. Winning in Le Mans with Porsche has been my dream, after my previous wins with another manufacturer. Thank you to my teammates and all the team who did an amazing job.”
