24 Hours of Le Mans – Risi Competizione finalizes ORECA 07-Gibson driver line-up

Risi Competizione's participation in the LMP2 class at this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans is a surprise entry, and now the American team has confirmed its drivers.

A fast and solid driver line-up will represent Risi Competizione in the #82 ORECA 07-Gibson at the 24 Hours this year. Brits Ryan Cullen and Oliver Jarvis will be joined by Brasilian driver Felipe Nasr. Team owner Giuseppe Risi has also announced the trio will participate in the 6 Hours of Monza, third round of the 2021 FIA WEC season, on 19 July just one month before the big race in Le Mans.

Felipe Nasr (age 28), former Formula 1 driver with Sauber in 2015 and 2016, took his rookie start in the 24 Hours in 2018 at the wheel of Cetilar Villorba Corse's Dallara P217 (19th overall). He won the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2019.

Ryan Cullen (age 30) has competed at Le Mans twice. The British driver drove the United Autosports team's Ligier JS P217 in 2019, and G-Drive Racing's by Algarve's Aurus 01-Gibson last year (mid-race retirement with electrical problems). This season, he is representing DragonSpeed in the European Le Mans Series.

Oliver Jarvis (age 37), will be taking his 10th start in the 24 Hours in August. He boasts four podiums including three third place finishes in 2012, 2013 and 2015, and second place in 2017. Jarvis is no stranger to Risi Competizione given that he drove the American team's Ferrari F488 GTE Evo in 2019.

Team owner Giuseppe Risi: "Racing at Le Mans never gets old to me. We are pleased to add the Risi Competizione name to the LMP2 class history at Le Mans with this year’s effort with Ryan, Oliver and Felipe at the wheel. When the prospect to race the car at the WEC 6 Hours of Monza race became an option, we felt it was an excellent opportunity to have the drivers and crew all be able to work together and with the car before such a gruelling race as Le Mans."

Risi Competizione competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans a remarkable 17 times between 1998 and 2020, with three wins and seven podium finishes. The first victory dates back to 1998 with a Ferrari 333SP followed by two more with a Ferrari 430 GT in 2008 and 2009. The most recent podium finish was claimed in 2018 in the LMGTE Am class.
