Le Mans 24 Hours winner in 1993, Eric Helary won the last title of his career a few days ago, before announcing his retirementas a driver. He will always occupy a special place in the history of endurance racing.

French driver, born in 1966, he had some of the finest chapters of his career in La Sarthe. In 1993, his first visit to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, he won with Geoff Brabham and Christophe Bouchut, leading an impressive triple for the Peugeot 905. In ten appearances, he had three other podium finishes: second in 1995 with Bob Wollek and Mario Andretti in a Courage-Porsche, and third in 1997 with Peter Kox and Roberto Ravaglia (McLaren F1 GTR). In 2006, he finished second again, this time driving a Pescarolo. Previously, he was one of the drivers of the Le Mans Toyota GT-One (1998) project, before becoming a pillar of Pescarolo Sport from 2002.

Champion of France in Formula Ford (1988) and Formula 3 (1990) before turning to the Super Touring and endurance, Eric Helary won the Racecar Euro Series crown at Le Mans last weekend in close racing with cars from NASCAR. This title will go in 2012 to the United States, the birthplace of the sport, to compete in a race. The latest in a distinguished career before devoting himself to the restoration of classic cars. Perhaps will there be some on the 24 Hours circuit, near Le Mans Classic example ...Jean-Philippe Doret
