Two weeks after starting in class pole position at the 12 Hours of Sebring, Patrick Dempsey scored a victory in the Nevada desert, in the Mint 400.

The actor/driver won in the 5500 class, with Andy Lally (his team-mate at Sebring) and Matt Cruson, covering Mint 400 course in 7 hours and 21 minutes. An all female crew finished second; Melissa Eickhoff (driver Dempsey Del Piero Racing), Pattie Mayer and Pilar Lastra. Patrick Dempsey: "It was amazing to race in the dirt again and win. I dug into my Baja 1000 experience and went for it. Andy's never done this kind of racing before, he did great and the Zero One team was great. Even the girls rocked."

The Mint 400 is the oldest American desert race, held near Las Vegas. In 2013, Patrick Dempsey joins many other Hollywood legends to have taken part: Steve McQueen (who produced and starred in the film "Le Mans" in 1970) and James Garner (who played a Formule 1 driver in the film "Grand Prix", by John Frankenheimer in 1966). On the 22nd and 23rd June, he will be at the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the wheel of a Porsche 911 in the LM GTE Am class, four years after his first participation in a Ferrari F430 GT. His return to La Sarthe is being recorded in documentary film.
