24 Hours of Le Mans – A new livery all about look and performance for Panis Racing

Panis Racing's #65 ORECA has been given a makeover for the 90th 24 Hours of Le Mans on 11-12 June. The car's livery was designed by the brother of the French team's systems engineer.

After fielding two art cars in the 2021 24 Hours (including one representing PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports), Panis Racing has once again opted for originality in the livery of its ORECA 07-Gibson competing in the LMP2 class. The decoration for the #64 ORECA was entrusted to art car designer Benjamin Louis a.k.a. "Asphaaalt." The former car interior designer was commissioned to create the livery for Panis Racing's car entered in the 90th 24 Hours by his brother, a systems engineer within the team. It was a childhood dream come true for Louis. After a few design proposals, the project accelerated to materialise in an all-new livery that combines aesthetics and performance..

The obvious inspiration for the design comes from a simple idea: the 24 Hours is never linear and is always punctuated with twists and unexpected outcomes by way of overtakings, accidents, race strategies and more.

The livery reflects this sensational spontaneity. A triangle represents teamwork, performance and passion as well as speed with a color fade from blue to black. The design also highlights the preservation of carbon and fundamental technical safety elements (bonnet fasteners, circuit breakers, specific labels, etc.).

Behind the simplicity of the design is above all the integration of technical constraints. Playing with the lines of the livery on the car makes it possible to magnify these often hidden or imposed details, crucial to the efficiency of the team, just like in aviation.

Benjamin Louis: "I am happy to have the opportunity to showcase my skills with Panis Racing for the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. To take on this challenge and see the culmination of this intense project with the entire team is inspiring and solidifies my desire to be creative in the world of racing."

Panis Racing is heading into the 24 Hours of Le Mans after finishing third at the 4 Hours of Le Castelet and fourth at the 4 Hours of Imola this year.
