24 Hours of Le Mans – Porsche and Ferrari staring down front row Corvettes

The Corvette C8.Rs in the top two spots on the LMGTE Pro starting grid have Porsche and Ferrari hot on their heels.

Spanish driver Antonio García in Corvette Racing's #63 Corvette C8.R explains his point of view: "I’m not nervous. I was way more nervous last year when we weren’t in Hyperpole and were behind seven Am cars. Last year, the pressure was up. The rain at the beginning helped as we were P2 after lap one. But I prefer it this way! We know how well the car is running. We can’t ask for a better starting point. This is the good thing about having two cars here. We have two shots in the race, and we need to capitalise on this. It would be great if we could keep it 1-2 all the way, but now there’s not much else we can do and nothing else we can ask for."

French driver Kévin Estre in Porsche GT Team's #92 Porsche 911 RSR-19 is cautiously optimistic: "I hope we're not in the same configuration as last year because we didn't have a chance in the race. The game plan is pretty easy here, you have to try and do the most laps. Generally in GT, it's 14 laps (per stint, Ed.). And when you come to the end of a stint, you have two options, change or keep the tyres. That's the core strategy. Then there may be adjustments depending on race occurrences. We have to stay ahead so a safety car doesn't separate us from the leaders. You push from the start, don't make mistakes and stay in front."

Ferrari's mantra this year is to push itself to the limit from start to finish and the Italian marque's hopes are high as it outnumbers its direct opponents.
