ELMS – A new look for IDEC SPORT Racing's LMP2 prototypes

The French team has unveiled the new design of their two LMP2 prototypes destined for the 2019 European Le Mans Series season. The first testing sessions are scheduled soon at the Barcelona and Le Castellet circuits.

For this year's European Le Mans Series (ELMS) season, IDEC SPORT Racing has announced it will field one ORECA 07-Gibson and one Ligier JS P217-Gibson. The #27 Ligier will be shared by Patrice Lafargue, Erik Maris and Stephane Adler. The #28 ORECA will be driven by the same line-up as in 2018, namely Paul Lafargue, Paul-Loup Chatin and Memo Rojas.

The two prototypes have been given a new livery after development of the design was entrusted to sporting journalist and designer Adrien Paviot. The new decoration recalls the bright red of the IDEC SPORT maxi-trimaran helmed by French professional sailboat racer Francis Joyon, winner of the last edition of the transatlantic single-handed yacht race Route du Rhum.

IDEC SPORT Racing will soon take part in its first testing sessions of the season at the circuits in Barcelona and Le Castellet. The goal is to rack up as many kilometers as possible before the first ELMS race on 14 April, the 4 Hours of Le Castellet.

The French team submitted requests for both cars to take the start at the 87th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (15-16 June 2019). The full entry list will be released on Friday 1 March. Last year, the #48 ORECA 07-Gibson clinched pole position in the LMP2 class before being forced to retire with gearbox troubles three hours from the checkered flag.
