Jacky Ickx reflects back on his win at the 1977 24 Hours of Le Mans (video)

1977 was a significant year for Jacky Ickx. He won the fourth victory of his career at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (of six total), his third consecutive (Mirage GR8 Ford/Cosworth with Derek Bell in 1975 and Porsche 936 with Gijs van Lennep in 1976) and he matched his fellow countryman Olivier Gendebien in number of wins.

At the 1977 24 Hours of Le Mans, Jacky Ickx started the race at the wheel of the #3 Porsche 936 he shared with Henri Pescarolo, but four hours in, a connecting rod caused the engine to fail. As a result, the Belgian driver switched to the sister car driven by Jürgen Barth and Hurley Haywood. Twenty hours later, the #4 Porsche reached the checkered flag and claimed the top step on the overall podium!

In the video below, Jacky Ickx reflects back on that edition and shares the thoughts and emotions he had throughout that year's remarkable race. He admits he felt at the time that he was "invincible!"
