Scuderia Corsa announces the driver line-ups of its two Ferrari 488s for Le Mans

Recipient of two invitations to the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Scuderia Corsa team will enter two Ferrari 488 GTEs in LM GTE Am, the class in which it won at Le Mans last year. It's an achievement the American outfit intends to repeat with partially reworked driver line-ups.

The trio that won in 2016 remains partially intact given the fact Townsend Bell and Bill Sweedler will return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but this time the two Americans will welcome Cooper MacNeil, designated as head driver, to replace Jeff Segal. Cooper MacNeil, who has already done races with Scuderia Corsa in the U.S., has competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times, with a fifth place finish in LM GTE Pro in 2014 as best result. Last year, the Illinois native's Porsche was forced to retire following an incident for Marc Miller on Saturday evening.

While the #62 Ferrari will be entrusted to the 100% American trio, its #65 car will be driven by a Dane, an Italian and an American. Christina Nielsen, who became the first Danish woman to take the start at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (2016, sixth place in LM GTE Am with Formula Racing), won the GTD class in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship along with Italian driver Alessandro Balzan and Scuderia Corsa in 2016. The Italian-Danish duo will be joined at the 24 Hours by Bret Curtis, at the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2012 with Prospeed Compétition (retirement).

The Ferrari 488 GTE will make its debut in the LM GTE Am class at Le Mans since only cars older than one year are eligible in the class and the Ferrari 488 GTE replaced the Ferrari 458 Italia in 2016.

The 2015 edition marked Scuderia Corsa's first appearance and first podium finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Its second participation the following year yielded the win in its class! In 2017, the team based in California will enter not one but two cars in its third appearance at the 24 Hours. The team led by Giacomo Mattioli keeps growing!
