WEC – Manor to line up ex-F1 driver Antonio Pizzonia at Nürburgring

The name of former Formula One driver Antonio Pizzonia appears on the entry list for the 6 Hours of Nürburgring – the fourth round of the 2016 World Endurance Championship (WEC) season – alongside Tor Graves and James in Manor’s #44 Oreca 05-Nissan.

Antonio Pizzonia competed in the first two races of the 2013 season in British team ADR-Delta’s Oreca 03, including an LM P2 class win at the season’s opener at Silverstone. Three years later, the former Jaguar and Williams Formula One driver is returning to endurance to replace Will Stevens.

Pizzonia is no stranger to endurance newcomers Manor who have a strong background in single-seater feeder formulas. The Brazilian won the British Formula Renault title in 1999 and the Formula 3 crown the following year with John Booth and Graeme Lowdon’s outfit.

Manor’s second Oreca 05 that was omitted from the 24 Hours of Le Mans field due to the team’s late registration for the championship, will be driven by its regular line-up of Matt Rao, Richard Bradley and Roberto Merhi.
