WEC - Strakka Racing (Gibson) brings season to an early end

Strakka Racing – LM P2 class winner at the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans – has announced on Twitter that its World Endurance Championship season is over. The team will not be contesting the final two rounds owing to engine issues encountered at Fuji.

Currently lying fifth in the standings, the British outfit had lost all hope of scooping the FIA Endurance Trophy for LM P2 Teams at the end of the season despite a remarkable performance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June. Competing against much newer prototypes, the Gibson 015S finished in a creditable fourth place thanks to the skill of owner-driver Nick Leventis, and especially Jonny Kane and Danny Watts. Watts was subsequently replaced by Lewis Williamson for the following four rounds.
