With the great performance of the three prototypes to 6 Hours of Silverstone, culminating in third place overall in LM P1 #24, OAK Racing begin marketing the Pescarolo LM P2-OAK during the race Petit Le Mans, penultimate round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup 2011.
The four OAK Pescarolo chassis will take part in Petit Le Mans, making it the most represented manufacturer. Three cars directly defend the colors of the team: two LM P1 (#15 and #24) and LM P2 (#35). Another LM P2 Pescarolo-OAK is entered by the United Autosports team (#49). It will be the first car that will not be run by OAK Racing.
Since their inception in 2010, the OAK-Pescarolo LM P2 prototypes have been developed under the leadership of OAK Racing, and internally by the Research Department of the team who last year won Manufacturers' title in LM P2 in the Le Mans Series. To this end, an LM P2 Development for 2012 configuration will be available to client teams as well as a test on the circuit of Val de Vienne in mid-January.
Jacques Nicolet (Président OAK Racing) : “The OAK-Pescarolo LMP2 2012 will benefit from all chassis and aerodynamic development work conducted on both the existing LMP1 and LMP2s throughout 2011 and will fully comply with the ACO’s regulations as of 1st January 2012. The LMP2 will be available from the second half of February onwards. We have commenced production on six chassis, each of which are designed to accommodate any type of engine. This package complies with the cost cap and regulations implemented by the ACO. We are keen to expand our international base so are targeting private teams competing throughout America, Europe and Asia in endurance championships such as the Le Mans Series – where LMP2 will become the premier class – and American Le Mans Series, as well as events to be announced as part of the FIA World Championship. Contact with potential teams is already well advanced.”
Petit Le Mans is on the 1st October at Road Atlanta (Georgia, USA). Clck here for informaion on the penultimate round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup 2011.
