24 Hours of Le Mans - Hour 14 Recap

Mistakes are made in the early morning hours.

LMP1

No change in the top class as the #1 Porsche leads the way with André Lotterer at the wheel. The #2 Porsche has made its way up to 13th overall and the #8 Toyota is up to 38th overall.

LMP2

A visit to the garage for the #31 ORECA in the previous hour has changed the battle up front. The #38 ORECA driven by Oliver Jarvis is trying to hold off the #13 ORECA just handed off from David Heinemeier Hansson to Nelson Piquet Jr.

The #31 is third.

LMGTE Pro

The order continues to fluctuate amongst Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche and Ford.

There was a fantastic battle between the #97 Aston Martin and #51 Ferrari for several laps that ended with Alessandro Pier Guidi taking over second from the Aston Martin on the Mulsanne.

At the close of the hour, the #95 Aston Martin leads with Nicki Thiim in the car. The #97 Aston Martin is second, driven by Darren Turner. Richard Lietz is third in the #91 Porsche.

This sister Porsche (#92) is the latest retirement, having spun and made contact with the tires in the Ford Chicane at the top of the hour.

LMGTE Am

Will Stevens in the No. 84 JMW Ferrari is on cruise control out front in class by a lap. The #55 Ferrari (Scott) is attempting to run him down.

The #90 Aston Martin was in the mix, but was reported slow on course and fell to sixth.

It’s now the No. 77 Porsche (Ried) in third, followed by the #62 Ferrari (MacNeil).
