Asian LMS - A highly suspenseful finale shaping up for Sepang

This coming weekend will take place the last round of the 2016/2017 Asian Le Mans Series season at the Malaysian circuit in Sepang, and it's sure to be full of excitement as most of the titles are still up for grabs after three races!

With a 19 point lead on its closest rival - the Algarve Pro Racing team's #25 Ligier JS P2-Nissan (12th in LM P2 at the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans) - Jackie Chan DC Racing's #35 Oreca 03R-Nissan has a comfortable lead, but has no room for error if it wants to claim the crown.

The positions are quite tighter in LM P3 with only four points separating the two leaders, the #4 Ginetta of ARC Bratislava, thanks to its win at the next-to-last round at Buriram, Thailand ahead of the #26 Ligier JS P3 of Tockwith Motorsports. In all, there are less than five competitors who can still win and in doing so clinch an automatic invitation (conditions met) to the 85th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans next June.

Though five competitors are still in the running in GT, the situation is a bit more relaxed for DH Racing's #5 Ferrari 488 GT3, the leader by 14 points on Team BBT's #37 Ferrari.

The 2016/2017 season of the Asian Le Mans Series has certainly been a success with an average of 28 cars entered - as is the case for the starting grid at the 4 Hours of Sepang - over the four four-hour races, which is a marked improvement on last season.
