Ford will settle for second place in LMGTE Pro at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (video)

Ford entered four Ford GTs in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with one goal in mind: to retain the title in the LMGTE Pro class after its win last year clinched by the driver line-up Sébastien Bourdais-Dirk Müller-Joey Hand in the #68.

Four Ford GTs were deployed this year in an effort to secure another victory in LMGTE Pro, 50 years after the win for the #1 Ford GT40 Mk.IV (see article) driven by legends Dan Gurney and A.J Foyt. The drivers hoped to make their mark on the 85th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, particularly Harry Tincknell, Andy Priaulx and Luis Felipe "Pipo" Derani in the...#67.

The three drivers reached the second step on the class podium during the final lap in the wake of the #63 Corvette C7.R's flat tire. The other Ford GTs finished sixth (#68), seventh (#69) and 10th (#66) in LMGTE Pro.
