Graff Racing (Oreca) eyeing the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans in LM P2

Announced for the 2015 season, Graff Racing's move to LM P2 will finally take place in 2017 with the acquisition of an Oreca 07 for the French team currently fourth in the LM P3 class in the European Le Mans Series. The selection of a championship, the World Endurance Championship (WEC) or the ELMS, has not yet been made, but an invitation request for the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans should be submitted.

If the Selection Committee grants an invitation and if Pascal Rauturier's team enters the World Endurance Championship (WEC), Graff Racing - with 11 participations between 1980 and 1993 - will take the start at the 24 Hours for the 12th time in its history. Though entered in the ELMS, Graff Racing was unable to compete at Le Mans this year since LM P3 cars at not eligible. On the other hand, the French outfit finished third at Road to Le Mans, a curtain-raiser race before the 24 Hours in June.

Present in LM P3 in the ELMS with a Ligier JS P3 this year, Graff Racing finally set its sights on an Oreca 07 for next year, the inception season for the new LM P2 class technical regulations, with the goal of remaining in the discipline four years.

Team manager, Pascal Rauturier: "After a good season start in LM P3 and with the confidence of our drivers and sponsors, whom I want to thank, the logical progression was to create an LM P2 program for 2017. LM P2 has always been a dream, the championship is very professional and the competition is fierce. The circuits are different and very interesting. For now, we have not chosen the championship in which we will participate. We already have international drivers interested in participating in FIA WEC rounds, particulary in the U.S. The best would be to take the team and our drivers to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2017, for which we will be submitting an invitation request."

In the meantime, Graff Racing will attempt to climb in the hierarchy next weekend at the Circuit Paul Ricard at Le Castellet, site of the fourth of six ELMS season rounds.
