Spotlight on the design of the Ford GT (video)

How do you design a car for road and race track? Ford GT designer Garen Nicoghosian and aerodynamics expert Bernie Marcus rose to the challenge of designing a road car that would also be a great racing machine.

According to the head of the team that designed the shape of the Ford GT, nothing on the car is accidental. The buttress in the quarter panel area at the rear of the car is not only a very distinctive feature, it also houses the intercooler discharge. The overall look retains something of the Ford GT40, the car that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans four times in a row, from 1966 to 1969.
