Tony Parker has signalled the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual!

An outstanding champion has lowered the French flag to indicate the start of an outstanding race. The first esports endurance race involving professional racing drivers from several disciplines and top-notch sim racers, the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual, is under way!

Once the grid was formed, three-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Allan McNish led the field out for the formation lap at the wheel of the LMPH2G, the hydrogen-electric racing car developed for the MissionH24 project. The 50-strong 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual field was released by basketball star Tony Parker at 15:00 CEST.

The weather was fine for the start. Two hundred drivers are taking part in the unprecedented event this weekend, when the actual 24 Hours of Le Mans was initially scheduled before being postponed to 19-20 September.

Throughout the race, the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation will be appealing for donations towards medical research for a Covid-19 vaccine.
