Like most competitors in the LMGTE Pro class, Aston Martin Racing has elected to rely on duos instead of trios for the next three rounds of the 2018-2019 World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) Super Season. Jonny Adam and Darren Turner will therefore focus on other endeavors.
A mainstay of Aston Martin for 14 years, Darren Turner has continued to extend his contract with the British marque, earning him three class wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. But, the Brit will not take part in this year's last three rounds at Silverstone, Fuji and Shanghai, leaving the "Dane Train" Nicki Thiim and Marco Sørensen to represent Aston Martin.
Darren Turner will however take the wheel of the #95 Aston Martin Vantage AMR (eighth place in LMGTE Pro at the 24 Hours in June) for the last three races of the 2018-2019 Super Season at Sebring, Spa and Le Mans. In the meantime, the British driver will dedicate himself to the development of Aston Martin series and racing cars and serve as an advisor to the marque. Jonny Adam will leave behind the #97 sister car (13th in LMGTE Pro at the 24 Hours with Alex Lynn and Maxime Martin) to join Salih Yoluc and Charlie Eastwood at the wheel of TF Sport's older version Aston Martin Vantage in the LMGTE Am class.
This older Vantage reached the top step on the LMGTE Pro podium at Le Mans in 2017 for its swan song thanks to Darren Turner, Jonny Adam and Daniel Serra, but was unable to keep up with its rivals this year due to insufficient performance levels.
