WEC - Reaction of the three drivers selected for the Rookie Test in Bahrain (video)

We now know the names of the three drivers chosen to participate in the 2016 Rookie Test in Bahrain on Sunday, November 20th: Brazilian Pipo Derani, Italian Antonio Giovinazzi and American Gustavo Menezes.

Brazilian driver Pipo Derani, current driver of Extreme Speed Motorsport's #31 Ligier JS P2 in LM P2, will test the Toyota TS050 Hybrid. A few months ago at the WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, he shared with us: "LM P1 is a very interesting class to me, it's true! Ever since I began competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, my primary goal has been to race in this class. But I know very well I have to earn the opportunity. That's why when I get in the car, I always try to do my best. I hope to have the chance to continue to show my capabilities and do a test in LM P1 one day. I'm not putting any pressure on myself to get there, but I do push myself to overcome my weaknesses. I try to be the most well-rounded driver as possible and show that as an LM P2 driver I deserve a test in LM P1. I hope I will be given the chance. They say I'm still young but I feel ready."

American driver Gustavo Menezes currently with the Signatech Alpine team, the winner in its class at this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans and set to win in LM P2 with the Alpine A460, will drive the Porsche 919 Hybrid. Italian driver Antonio Giovinazzi - at the wheel of Extreme Speed Motorsport's #30 Ligier JS P2 this weekend at Fuji - will drive the Audi R18.
