WEC - Rebellion Racing to move to LM P2 in 2017

Current leaders of the World Endurance Championship Trophy for Private LMP1 Teams, Rebellion Racing will be returning to the LM P2 class in 2017.

The team formed in 2008 was originally known as Speedy Racing Team Sebah and fielded a Lola LM P2. In 2009, Jonny Kane, Benjamin Leuenberger and Xavier Pompidou came second in class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and in the championship. A Lola-Aston Martin was also entered in LM P1, driven by Nicolas Prost, Andrea Belicchi and Marcel Fässler, who went on to win Le Mans three times with Audi.

In 2010, the team changed its name to Rebellion, after its main sponsor, a watchmaker. From then on, they focused on LM P1, fielding Lolas, first with a Judd engine, then a Toyota. Later, they developed their own car, the R-One, with help from Oreca. Rebellion Racing came fourth at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2012 and 2014.

Although the Swiss team has never fielded an LM P2 under the name of Rebellion Racing, their experience as Speedy Racing Team Sebah will stand them in good stead next season and they are no doubt looking forward to the challenge of the new regulations.
