Peugeot #8 calmly led the race until his final stop. Pedro Lamy took over and made a mistake in Turn 3 on cold tyres. He rejoined but lost the lead in the race in favour of Nicolas Lapierre and Peugeot of ORECA. He even slipped to third place overall, with Simon Pagenaud punishing the Portuguese driver's error to go up in second place.
The situation has not improved in LM P2 with the first car, the Lola-Honda Ryan Hunter-Reay, in 31st place. Everything was fine in a brave new world for BMW until Augusto Farfus returned to pit with a wheel missing. He slipped from second place to fifth position, while the sister car #56 continued to lead the LM GTE Pro with Dirk Müller. The #03 Corvette of Olivier Beretta completes the top three.
Both LM GTE Am head continue their 'pas de deux' with Niclas Jonsson on the Krohn Racing Ferrari ahead of the #63 Porsche of Christian Ried.
