Cars in the GT3 and GT4 classes will hit the track this weekend at the 12 Hours of Bathurst, the first round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge season. The race is one of the most important on the GT calendar, along with the 24 Hours Nürburgring and the 24 Hours Spa-Francorchamps, which is why as many as 19 drivers from the 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans are expected to compete. The 12 Hours of Bathurst takes place at the world-renowned and challenging Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit, a public thoroughfare for most of the year (like the Le Mans circuit).
This year, 39 cars will participate in the race. The A-Pro (20 cars) class is composed of GT3s like the Porsche GT3 R, Audi R8 LMS, Nissan GTR, Ferrari 488 GT3, Bentley Continental GT3 and Mercedes AMG GT3.
Among the 19 drivers from the 2019 24 Hours competing at the 12 Hours of Bathurst, 2015 and 2017 Le Mans winner Earl Bamber will join forces with Laurens Vanthoor and Craig Lowndes at the wheel of a Porsche GT3 R fielded by his own team. Jules Gounon and Oliver Jarvis will represent Bentley Team M-Sport and 2016 Le Mans winner Romain Dumas will drive NED Racing Team's Porsche GT3 R. Official Porsche drivers Mathieu Jaminet, Patrick Pilet and Matt Campbell will share Absolute Racing's #911 Porsche GT3 R, and Brazilian driver Daniel Serra, a member of AF Corse's team at Le Mans, will take the wheel of Hub Auto Corsa's Ferrari 488 GT3.
