Warm-Up
The long, long day, as the Japanese call it, begins with the last 45-minute practice session. Drivers check the setup for the last time and if necessary adjust for forecast weather conditions. Meanwhile, spectators hurry to the best vantage points to watch the start.
Start
Those long minutes before the start are legendary. After the morning’s entertainment and races, the tension mounts as the cars line up along the grandstand straight. It goes up another notch as the band plays the national anthems. Adrenaline peaks at 3pm when the green flag hails the beginning of 24 hours of excitement and fervour.
